A young stranger padded her way to the walls of Mekbet. The cat stopped a minute and stared at the East Gate, her blue-green eyes wide. She stepped inside, her first time in the city, or in any city in fact, and walked slowly down the street toward the west, surrounded on either side by sandy colored buildings beginning at the corner of the block. The stranger asked a civilian cat for directions, claiming that she wished to join the army, her voice slightly raspy after a dehydrating travel through the desert. The old civilian's eyes flickered and he said, "Another for the army, huh? Just go down this road to the West and it will be on you right once you pass the Education Center, which is a few flicks of the tail past the market." The stranger thanked the old tom with a grateful smile and hurried on. She trotted past the market and the educational center, but her paws skid to a halt when she saw the tavern. She padded into the tavern and took out the few coins she had gotten from her father's worn out bow. She bought a drink to quench her thirst from days in the Furokin Desert, the last of which she had spent with minimal water. After the cat finished her drink, she walked to the barracks. What she saw there was beyond her wildest dreams. Her eyes flew from one group of warriors to another, some archers, some soldiers, even a few assasins. She shook her head to snap out of this awe and looked for a sign that said "Enlist Here." A few moments later, a registration officer observed the strange cat walk up to his table. Her eyes were wild with delight but paws steady from years of experience with the bow. She came up and said in a surprisingly calm tone,"My name is Feshik, and I would like to enlist in your army as an archer."
